Obituary of Louis Liotta

Longtime Staten Island resident Louis Liotta, a retired Captain with the New York City Department of Correction died Friday morning at Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. He was 64. Mr. Liotta was born in Brooklyn, and moved to Staten Island with his parents Paul and Mary Liotta (nee Fasano). He served with the department for 25 years working at Rikers Island, Bellevue hospital and Brooklyn Navy Yard. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, and helped coach the St. Margaret Mary Bulldogs to a championship. The beloved father is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his son Paul and wife of 34 years Marcella T. Liotta (nee Downes). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Stroke Association. Funeral from Mathew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, May 20, 2019 departing 9:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity RC Church at 9:30 AM at 1616 Richmond Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314. Interment to follow at Resurrection in Pleasant Plains, Staten Island, NY 10309. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
