Obituary of Alfred J. Forte

Alfred J. Forte, age 76, of Castleton Corners, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on May 17, 2019. Al was the beloved husband for fifty years of Kit Forte (nee Sullivan); loving father of Donna Robol (Rob), Barbara Belisario (Anthony), and Kathleen Rutkowski (Jim); cherished grandfather of Robert Robol, Lauren Robol, and Alexa Belisario; dear brother of Ann Mary Marottoli (Peter), Bernadette Aikens, and the late Blanche Costello (late Bill). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Forte was born in Pennsylvania, raised in the Bronx, and also New Jersey. After marrying his wife, they relocated to Staten Island. He was graduated from Matawan High School. After high school, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy. In his earlier career he was a Jet Aircraft Mechanic for 25 years, with Pan Am airlines. After he left Pan Am, he worked as a Carpenter for Baruch College. In his spare time he was an avid NY Giants and Rangers fan, and enjoyed being a competitive golfer. Most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events and activities. Al was treasured and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Memorial donations in memory of Al can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org). Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 10:45 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm.
