Obituary of Laura Jean Kocian

Laura Jean Kocian, 84, passed away on June 4, 2019. She was the devoted daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Napolitano. She was the beloved wife of Thomas for almost 60 years. She was the loving mother of Nicholas Kocian and his wife Ronda, Thomas Kocian Jr. and his wife Janice, Karl Kocian and his wife Jennifer and Kenneth Kocian and his wife Andree. She was the dear grandmother of Stefanie, Ashley, Justin, Nicole, Renee and Karl II. She was the cherished great grandmother of Preston. She was the loving sister of Andrew Napolitano, and the late Peter, Frank, Dominic and Michael Napolitano and the late Helen Domante, Angelina Wicinski and Florence Moliterni. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Laura was born and raised in Mariners Harbor on Staten Island. She attended P.S. 22 and was elected as Judge Magistrate during her time in grammar school. She furthered her education in attending Port Richmond High School, majoring in Business. Laura was very active in sports and was on the Wolverette's softball team. She was also a cheerleader while she attended High School. Post graduation, she worked for Josephthal Brokerage as a bookkeeper, she worked as a secretary at Chiquita Banana and was also an administrator in the laboratory in Staten Island Hospital and finalizing her work career with the Department of City Planning in New York. Laura's most proud job was being a mother to her four wonderful sons. She enjoyed hosting many family gatherings and spending time with her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Throughout her life, Laura touched many people in a very positive way. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc. 2508 Victory Blvd. On Saturday, 6/8/19, departing at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, 6/6/19, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday, 6/7/19, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
