Obituary of John J. Pasquale Sr.

John J. Pasquale age 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 26, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Angela (nee Spisto) for 62 years. He was the loving father of Theresa Pasquale and John J. Pasquale Jr. and his wife Joanne. He was the cherished grandfather of Brian, Brandon and Daniel Pasquale and his fiancée Jennifer. He was the beloved brother of Dominick Pasquale and Josephine Nappi and the late Gennaro Pasquale Jr., Annette Hologounis, Angie Picerno and Louise Baez. He was the dear son of the late Gennaro and Jennie Pasquale. He was the devoted son-in-law of the late Patrick and Theresa Spisto. John graduated from McKee High School in 1955, where he learned many skills in the field of carpentry and put these skills to use by helping renovate and remodel homes. At a young age he worked for the Zinicola family at the Zinicola Bakery in Port Richmond. In 1975, he purchased Zinicola Bakery that he owned and operated until 1988. Thereafter, he and his son John started their own business J & J Italian Bread which his son continues to operate to this day. They have proudly served the Staten Island Community for 4 generations and have made wonderful relationships through the many years of service. Above all his business successes, his family was most important to him, especially his three grandchildren, Daniel, Brian and Brandon and his nephew Cameron Pasquale. He was so proud of the men they have become and all their accomplishments. John was very passionate about his car collection, his favorite being his 1961 Oldsmobile Starfire. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, 7/31/19, departing at 8:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 9:30 AM. Committal will follow at Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ. Family and friends are may visit on Monday, 7/29/19, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, 7/30/19, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
