Obituary of Nancy Jean Santapaola

Nancy Jean Santapaola (nee Longo), 77, of New Springville, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2019. She was the beloved wife of John for 57 years; loving mother of John Anthony, Lawrence and his wife, Roseanne, and Lizette LaMalfa and her husband, Vincent; cherished grandmother of L.J., Nicholas John, Nicholas Lawarence, James, Gianna, and Alexa; devoted great-grandmother of Elias; fond step-grandmother of Chris Serra and Marie Serra; dear sister of Leona Longo, Rosalie Dowling, Maurice Longo and his wife, Rosemarie, Lawrence Longo, and the late Frank Longo; loving sister-in-law of Samuel Santapaola and his wife Christine, and Sara Ann Izzo and her husband, Anthony. Nancy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Nancy was born and raised in Pittburgh, PA, and was graduated from the Immaculate conception High School in Pittsburgh. She relocated to the Borough Park section of Brooklyn when she married her husband, John, in 1962, and moved to the New Springville section of Staten Island in 1999. In her younger days she worked as a Bookkeeper for Stauffer's Restaurant in Pittsburgh. Nancy enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She was known for her riceballs and pizzelles! Most of all she loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was known as Grandma, Mema and Mimi by them. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 9 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
