Obituary of Mariano Arce Jr.

Mariano Arce Jr., age 64, passed away peacefully at the Addeo Hospice surrounded by family on August 15, 2019. He was the devoted son of the late Mariano Sr. and Julia. He was the beloved husband of Alice. He was the loving father of John Arce and his wife Ana, Amanda Schettini and her husband Nick and Mariano Arce III. He was the dear son in law of Ada. He was the cherished Pop Pop of his wonderful pets Haley, Gizmo and Edith Kitty. Mariano was a dedicated worker and a proud mentor of many who he had the privilege to train over the years. He orchestrated and coordinated many special projects for the NYC Dept. of Transportation throughout his 38 year career. Mariano loved New York City, that love couldn't have been more tested than when the 9/11 attacks occurred, he played a vital role in the recovery efforts. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, 8/20/19, departing at 9:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, 8/18/19, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and Monday, 8/19/19, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
