Obituary of Lucia M. Della Torri

Lucia M. DellaTorri ( nee Vaiano) age 95, of Mariners Harbor passed away at Seaview Hospital and Home on August 28, 2019. Lucia was born in Manhattan and moved to Staten Island at the age of 10. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack DellaTorri (1986), son Robert DellaTorri (2008), brother Salvatore Vaiano, sisters Anna Caruso, Josephine LaMura, Giovanina (Jenny) Vaiano, Constance Puca, Christine Molinaro, Angelina Prestogiocomo, Martha Poppiti, Beatrice Landi, Mary Vaiano and Antoinette DiGregorio. Lucia was the beloved mother of Jane DellaTorri Beliveau, Richard DellaTorri, Linda DellaTorri Luongo and cherished mother-in-law of James Beliveau. She was the loving sister of Susan Toia and dear sister-in-law of Frank Toia and Mary DellaTorri. Lucia has many loving nieces and nephews and also leaves behind grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucia worked at Western Union and also as a seamstress during her earlier years and was retired from the City of NY Dept. of Social Services. She enjoyed traveling, bingo and cooking for her family. Her specialties were lasagna, stuffed artichokes, steak pizzaiola and Sicilian pizza. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. On Thursday, 9/5/19, departing at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Family R.C Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 9/4/19 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
