Obituary of Aniello "Oniell" De Nuzzie

Aniello "Oniell" De Nuzzie, 92, of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2019 at Richmond University Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Assunta "Sue" for 63 years; loving father of Neil De Nuzzie and his wife, Dolores, Donna Watson and her husband, Richard, Caroline De Nuzzie, and Frank A. De Nuzzie; Cherished grandfather of Brittany, Allison, Jessica "Jecca", Alex, Nicole, Daniel, Gia, Tony, and Lorenzo; dear brother of Anthony, the late Frank, the late Pasquale, and the late Angelina. He was also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. "Wickie" as he was known, was born and raised in Port Richomond and attended Port Richmond High School. After high school he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served for two years, being stationed in Italy. For 43 years he was employed with Proctor & Gamble on Staten Island, as a Tractor Operator. Aniello was active in the Staten Island sports scene, being involved with various leagues such as baseball, softball, bowling, horsehoes, pool and ping pong. Aniello also played bocce in a traveling bocce ball league. He enjoyed extensive travelling with his wife and family, which included trips to Atlantic City, Cape May, Florida, Ocean City, Maryland, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Tennessee. In addition to these trips, he also enjoyed many trips with Assunta and Caroline to Las Vegas, Nevada. He also enjoyed drawing, painting murals and playing card games, mostly with his family. Wickie had a green thumb and enjoyed growing his fig tree, and tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and various other vegetables. In addition he was an avid Yankees fan and thoroughly enjoyed family traditions and gatherings. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church on Wednesday, 9/11, at 10 am, with entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
