Obituary of Alfonse DeFrancesco

Alfonse DeFrancesco, 78, a native Staten Islander left our world here on earth on September 12, 2019. Alfonse was a lifelong resident of Mariners Harbor. He was a NYC Sanitation retiree as well as a longtime Butcher. He was the go to after any successful hunting trip. Alfonse's true passion was family. To say he loved large family gatherings and dinners is an understatement. Good food, family and lots of love were the ingredients for his happiness. Alfonse cherished his Family and his Italian heritage. Wine making, tomato jarring , meat curing and fire pit gatherings was where you would find him. He spent his last years with the loves of his life, his three granddaughters. Alfonse and Giovanna also enjoyed daily mass with their church friends. We as a family, couldn't have asked for a more wonderful man. He was a loving husband to Giovanna, a devoted Father to Assunta, Dorotea, Francesco (Frank) and Erin ( daughter-in-law). He was "Pop" to Olivia, Charlotte and Abigail. He was "lil brother" to his late Brother Phil. He was famously known as "Uncle Al" to his nephews, nieces and cousins, who all hold him dearly in their hearts. He was "Mr D" to his second family of friends, friends by nature but family to him. We were all blessed to have him in our lives and he will always be with us in our hearts, forever.
