Obituary of George J. Vieiro

George J. Vieiro, 67, of Graniteville, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Lisa (nee Alimonda) for 26 years; loving father of Barbara Vieiro and her husband, John Montes, and George Vieiro and his wife, Jennifer; cherished grandfather of Lia Vieiro and Jaylon Montes; dear brother of Jesus Vieiro and his wife, Marlene; devoted brother-in-law of Maria Alimonda and Anthony Alimonda; loving son of the late Josefa and Jesus; fond son-in-law of Anthony and the late Marjorie Alimonda. George was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Vieiro was born in La Coruna, Spain, in 1952, and emigrated to the United States in 1967, settling on Union Street in Downtown Brooklyn. He was employed for 40 years as an Operations Engineer with Local 94. George was an avid fisherman, who also enjoyed watching Western movies. He was a big fan of James Stewart and John Wayne. George was very witty and will be remembered for his riddles.

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10 am. Interment to follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. Family and friends may visit on Monday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
