Obituary of Josephine Mangiacapre
Josephine Mangiacapre (nee Bonanno), 95 of Staten Island, New York went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 30, 2019.
Josephine was born to the late Giuseppe & Accursia Bonanno on September 21, 1924 in New York, New York. She was a successful businesswoman who owned and operated Mangi Tours on Avenue X in Brooklyn with her sister-in-law, Helen Mangiacapre, also deceased. She took pride in her career and worked until she was 90 years old. Josephine loved dancing, entertaining and fashion. She was also an active member in her community and served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1497. Josephine was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was known for her stuffed mushrooms and artichokes. She always made sure that everyone felt comfortable and welcome. Josephine will always be remembered for her love and generosity.
Josephine is predeceased by her late husbands, Frank Mangiacapre and Peter Tartaglione and her two brothers John Bonanno & Paul (Bonanno) Bouno.
Josephine is survived by her children, Anne Festa, Patty Mangiacapre, Joseph Mangiacapre, Peter Tartaglione, Phylliss Biondi, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and her sister, Mary Titone.
Family and friends will be received at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY. Sunday October 6th 2:00 - 5pm and 7:00 - 10:00pm.
Funeral from Matthew Funeral Home, on Monday, October 7th departing at 9:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church, 430 Avenue W, Brooklyn, NY at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn NY
