Obituary of Doroteo William Relova Madrigal

William Madrigal, 78, of Emerson Hill, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Doreen for 52 years; loving father of Lourdes Cruz and her husband, Lucito, Christine Ortiz-Luis and her husband, Rommel, and Felisa Rivera and her husband, Ellis; cherished grandfather of Amanda, Alyssa, Raymond, Caitlin, Rhianne, Noel, Nikko, and Celyn; dear brother of Albert Madrigal and his wife, Julieta, Arcadio Madrigal and his wife, Loida, and Lourdes Ochoa, and the late George Madrigal; fond brother-in-law of Fe Madrigal. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Madrigal was born in Pila, Laguna, Philippines, in 1941 and emigrated to the United States in 1983, settling in Queens, before relocating to Staten Island in 1989. For many years Wlliiam was employed as a Transportation Manager for the Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations. Some of his hobbies included poker, watching and playing basketball, enjoying his Nintendo DS, playing chess, and watching movies. Most importantly, William always loved his opportunities to spend time with his grandchildren. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10 am. Committal to follow in Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ. Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
