Just noticed this announcement regarding Kevin’s passing and was very saddened by it. One of the most enjoyable people I had the pleasure of knowing in my 35 yrs. with the Port Authority, I remember him as an affable fun loving guy with a full head of hair while working at the Bus Terminal in the late 70's. Always up to some innocent and funny high jinx, two things in particular stand out. One was his successfully passing all the requirements to become a PA Police Officer by taking on all the mannerism of one of his supervisors. He walked, talked and mimicked all of his odd mannerism. In other words he became an officer not by being Kevin Higgins but being that supervisor. My guess is he really didn't want the job because he quit soon after. Two, there was one incident I didn't personally see but he told me, that he had been given the opportunity to address a Police Roll Call in which he introduced himself as the Manager of the Bus Terminal.
Kevin was a good guy, who will certainly be missed and I'm sure, if he hasn’t gotten himself thrown out, has probably got all the angels in heaven laughing their a**off.

Kevin was a really nice guy, friendly, helpful, funny. I enjoyed the times we worked together. We had a Supervisor (Danny O), Danny had a little OCD and would wear certain color shirts on specific days. One of these was a chartreuse color. Kevin comes into the office and asks Danny, " Whats up with the pink shirt?" Danny replies, "It's not pink!" Kevin says "well it sure looks pink to me!" Kevin leaves and goes to the Police Desk, where he tells all the cops, Danny's wearing a pink shirt and they should go over and look for themselves. So all these Cops, Sargent's, Lieutenant, Captain, all go to see Danny's pink shirt, and break his chops. We all thought it was funny, but Danny never wore that shirt again. It had to kill him on that day not to wear that shirt.
Kevin, I'll miss you, always enjoyed your calls after we retired. R.I.P. my friend.

It was heartbreaking news to hear of Kevin’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Kevin at the PABT. We was a very kind and considerate person. Kevin was a hard worker and a strong individual, nothing kept him down. He was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed. I would like to echo the sentiment of another who mentioned Kevin was soft spoken but when he manned the control center at PABT his voice was of a radio announcer. Kevin would command attention with every over the air and public announcement. May he Rest In Peace .

We were saddened to learn about Kevin’s passing. We remember Kevin as a child at St. Joseph Hill Academy wearing his uniform. He always talked to everyone. When he grew up his friendliness continued. So helpful. Never said no. He knew how to do just about everything. We offer out prayers, love and sympathy to our dear friend Mary, her brother Billy and of course Kevin’s wife and children and grand child. May he be resting in peace and welcomed into heaven by his dear parents. Blessed to have had you in our lives.
