Obituary of Raffaella "Felina" Scaramella

Raffaella "Felina" Scaramella passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 11, 2019 at Calvary Hospital in Brooklyn. She was the beloved wife of the late Donato Scaramella, and companion of John Modica. Loving Mother of Joey Scaramella and his late wife Lorraine Scaramella, Danny Scaramella and his wife Alfonzina Scaramella; cherished Grandmother of Angela, TinaMarie, Danny, JoJo, Ronnie and Bobby; dear sister of Vincenzo, Tonino, Anna and the late Nicola, Maria, Rosetta, Joseph, Albina, Angela and Elena. She had 47 loving Nieces and Nephews. Felina was born and raised in Bari, Italy in the small town of Poggiorsini where she met and married Donato Scaramella and moved to Staten Island N.Y. She worked as a seamstress and then as a dietary aide at Silver Lake Nursing Home for over 25 years retiring in 1999. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and entertaining for the holidays, baking her famous bow tie cookies, which her grandchildren will now take on the tradition. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, and trips back to Italy and France to visit her family. She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden and picking figs from her trees. She loved going to her grandchildren's sporting events where she would give out some of her specialties. She loved entertaining family and friends at her home, and was one of a kind and left nothing unsaid. Felina's courage and work ethic created the path of the American Dream for her family. Her genuine self, kind heart, beautiful smile and laugh will forever be treasured. Our dearest Felina's legacy will continue through the many hearts she touched with her unconditional love. "I Will Survive" Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, 11/16, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Roch's R.C. Church at 10 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, 11/14, and Friday, 11/15, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
