Obituary of Bernard G. Milne

Bernard G. Milne, 88, of Spotswood, NJ, formerly of Port Richmond, Staten Island, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Gloria (2001); loving father of Linda Armstrong and her husband, John, Kathy Bonczek and her husband, Ed, and Susan Milne; cherished grandfather of Stephen Armstrong, Nicholas Armstrong, Brendan Armstrong and his wife, Caitlin, Kerrilynn Armstrong, Douglas Bonczek, Kristin Bonczek, Valerie Thorpe and her husband, Kevin; devoted great-grandfather of Kayla, Morgan, and Finnegan; dear brother of Isabella Milne. He was predeceased by four siblings and survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Milne was born on Staten Island, raised in West Brighton, graduated from St. Peter's High School and went on to St. Peter's College in Jersey City. He then enlisted and served for three years in the Air Force, being stationed in England. Bernard served for 22 years with the NYPD as a Police Officer, and worked for 10 years as a custodian at Holy Family R.C. Church after his retirement. He was very witty who enjoyed telling jokes. In addition he loved listening to music and singing, and cooking. Bernard was a pet lover and enjoyed time with his two dogs Maggie and Callie. Most importantly his favorite time was spending time with his family. Mr. Milne was a Past Vice Commander with the Cichon Post and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10 am. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 9:00 pm.
