Obituary of Charles Florio

Charles Florio, 73, of Westerleigh, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2020, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Terry Florio (nee Smith) for 42 years; loving father of Raymond Florio and his wife, Molly; devoted grandfather of Leo and Lucas. He was also survived by many brother and sister-in-laws, and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Florio was born on Staten Island in 1947, raised in Port Richmond and graduated from Port Richmond High School. For 37 years he was employed as a mechanic and shop foreman for GM on Staten Island (the former Star Pontiac and Villa Marin), retiring in 2006. Charles loved tinkering with cars, even going as far as building two of his own race cars. He also enjoyed attending car shows, trips to Atlantic City, Aruba and Punta Cana, as well as other islands in the Caribbean. Above all, he loved spending time with his wife, son, and grandchildren.
