Obituary of Joseph W. Howley, Jr.

Joseph W. Howley, Jr, 67, of New Brighton, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Christina Ryan-Howley; loving father of Joseph W. Howley, III, Robert Howley and his wife Audra, and Nicholas Howley and his wife Laura; cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Sean, Amanda, Alyssa, Vincent and Amelia; dear brother of Steven Howley and his wife Donna, Doris Raffaele and her husband Larry, and Jimmy Howley. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Howley was born in Brooklyn, raised in Bensonhurst and graduated from William Grady High School in Brooklyn. He relocated to Staten Island in 1975. Joseph was employed for many years in the automotive industry, mainly in retail sales. In his spare time he was an avid Mets fan, enjoyed bowling and fishing/crabbing, and camping. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 9:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church at 10:30 AM. Committal service will follow in Rosehill Crematory. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
