Obituary of Miranda Ortiaga

Miranda Lim Ortiaga, 73, of Annadale, passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 11, 2020, at Calvary Hospital in Brooklyn. Born in Catbalogan, Samar in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Santiago and Gertrudes Lim and the step-daughter of Lilia Cinco Lim. Beloved wife of 46 years to Joaquin Ortiaga; loving mother of James & Jessica Ortiaga, Jessica & John Magalong and the late Jude Ortiaga. Cherished grandmother of Lathan, Hudson, James Ortiaga and Cameron Magalong. Dear sister of Erlinda Razo, Francisco, Santiago and Salvador Lim; fond niece of Dr. Prospero Lim & the late Fe Lim; beloved cousin of Aniano Rabe. Joaquin and Miranda migrated to Jersey City, NJ in 1976 and later moved to Staten Island, where they raised their three children. Miranda was the Payroll Supervisor at DC37 for over 30 years, before retiring in 2009. She truly enjoyed being around her grandchildren, participating in various religious associations, dancing and listening to music. Miranda was very personable and her kindness would make everyone feel welcome. She will forever be remembered as a warm hearted and generous person, who always put others first. The family will receive friends at Matthew Funeral Home at 2508 Victory Blvd Staten Island, NY on Friday 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 9:30amat St. Thomas Church. Entombment at Woodbridge Memorial in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
