Obituary of Salvatore J. Iacontino

Salvatore J. Iacontino, 80, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Annette (nee Menechino) for 56 years; loving father of Phyllis Van Pelt and her husband Robert, and Dureen Cappadona and her husband Joseph; cherished grandfather of Michael and Brian Cregg, and Joey and Jessica Cappadona; dear brother of Millie Dellarosa. He was predeceased by one brother and five sisters. Salvatore was born in Brooklyn, raised in Greenpoint and graduated from the Fashion Institute High School. He worked for 21 years as a Paraprofessional in the NYC School System. He also worked for Exxon Corportation, and for his father's dress shop in Brooklyn. Sal enjoyed singing, bowling, concerts, trips to Atlantic City. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, 2/18, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Child R.C. Church at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, 2/16, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
