Obituary of Carmela Sorgente

Carmela Sorgente, 85, of New Springville, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund; loving mother of Frank Sorgente and his companion Andrea Carraro, and Dina Sorgente and her husband Robert Zisel; cherished grandmother of Dolce Sorgente and Juliana Zisel; dear sister of the late Franklin Frangella. Mrs. Sorgente was born in Brooklyn, raised in Bedford Stuyvesant and graduated from Prospect Heights High School. For many years Carmela was employed for the New York Furniture Exchange in NYC. In her spare time Carmela enjoyed cooking, reading, and shopping. Above all, her favorite time was spent with her granddaughters. She was a spiritual person who attended church regularly. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmela's memory may be made to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation . To make a donation please call 718-987-1931 and mention Carmela's name. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at TBA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at TBA. Entombment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
