Obituary of Rocco Schirripa

Rocco Schirripa, 81, of New Springville, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Maria Schirripa for 56 years; loving father of Giuseppe (Eileen), Giovanni, and Nicola Schiripa. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Rocco; dear brother of Giuseppe, Teresa, Nicoletta and Rosa. Mr. Schiripa was born in 1938, in Reggio, Calabria, Italy, and came to the United States in 1977, settling in New Springville, Staten Island. For most of his life he worked as a Landscaper, as a business owner and also for Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on Staten Island. Rocco enjoyed gardening, which entailed growing his own fresh vegetables, especially Zucchini Flowers. Every year he had loyal customers who bought them from him. Also, Rocco owned a home in upstate, NY, where he would frequently travel to and enjoyed hunting. As per his family he was a diligent worker, who enjoyed providing for them. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church on Saturday at 10:30 am. Entombment to follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ.
