Obituary of Betty Frunzi

Betty Frunzi (nee Ramondetta), age 85, passed away on April 19, 2020 of complications from Covid19. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry and her granddaughter Raquel Joy. She is the cherished mother of Linda Ringhoff and her husband George, sons Peter and his wife Sue, John and his wife Jodi, Mark and his wife Beth and Nancy Cucci and her husband Jack. She was the devoted Grandma of Vanessa and her husband Dave, Georgette, Anthony, Christopher and his wife Jill, Jacklyn, Christina, Joseph, Vincent, Michael, Gianna and Daniel. She was the devoted Great Grandma of Isabella, Ayden, Olivia, Jake, Jackson and Bennett. She was the dear sister of John Rayner and his wife Penni. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Anna Frunzi, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews,dear friends and treasured neighbors of Harold Street. Betty was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She married her highschool sweetheart, Henry, "Hank". They relocated to Staten Island in 1968 and raised their family in Willowbrook. They became members of St. Rita's parish and were very active within the church community. Betty was always present at daily mass, taught 2nd grade CCD and made the Christening Robes for the church. She also enjoyed mentoring the teen group and their annual roller-skating trip (only day of the year you'd ever see Betty in jeans). Betty was a seamstress, loved to sew, crochet,make bridal dolls and sweet 16 dolls.She was also known as the "Neighborhood Tailor". She could fix it all! Betty's biggest joy was simply her ever expanding family.She enjoyed cooking the most delicious Sunday Dinners, sharing laughs and playing cards. She loved hosting BBQ's and pool parties with the entire family. The hostess for every holiday, her door was always open to all. Her children filled her life withits most precious moments. Betty was a Grandmother for 47 years and a Great Grandma for 14 years. She never missed an event.All the kids on Harold Street called her Grandma Betty too! Although she did not like to travel much, for her 45th Wedding anniversary her children made her dream of one day seeing Bermuda a reality. She cruised to Bermuda with 14 family members. She said it was the trip of a lifetime. The Family of Betty Frunzi would like to express their love and gratitude to the loving, devoted, Staff of the 4th floor at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home who cared for Betty. Due to current world circumstances they held her hands, sang hymns and prayed making sure she was not alone when she went home to our Lord. God Bless you all. Per the family's request, donations can be made in BettyFrunzi's name to Carmel Richmond Nursing Home marked for the purchase of PPE or other much needed supplies, 88 Old Town Road, Staten Island, NY 10304. Betty will be laid to rest in a private service following the official new protocol on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor at a future date when the law allows.
