Obituary of Lou Anthony Baldi
Lou Baldi, 45, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Mayra for 19 years; loving father of Rebekah Ivelys Sostre, Elizabeth Christina Baldi and Isabela Jane Baldi; cherished grandfather of Layla, Layth and Mariyam; son of Louis Baldi and the late Elizabeth Ann Baldi; dear brother of James Baldi, Thomas Baldi and Christopher James Baldi. Lou is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lou was born in 1975 in Suffolk, NY and grew up in Mt. Sinai where he enjoyed a very happy and active childhood. Lou attended school from Kindergarten to 12th grade at Mt. Sinai where he excelled academically and athletically on the baseball field. Lou has many friends and “family” that fondly remember his sense of humor, fierce loyalty, dedication and compassion from his high school years. After graduation Lou moved on to college where he studied to become an educator in Mathematics; he finished his Bachelors of Arts at Dowling College. After his undergraduate Lou began his teaching degree at P.S. 93 where he met his future wife Mayra. They both studied together and earned their Masters degrees at Brooklyn College. Lou, the tough guy, knew he had met the love of his life in Mayra and thus began a courtship that resulted in a proposal and then their wedding on August 25, 2001. Lou enjoyed watching and cheering for his favorite teams, especially the Yankees and would love to talk about all things sports. Lou was an excellent cook and certainly knew his way around the grill. Lou was an excellent provider and was very generous with his time, talents and treasures. Most of all Lou was a family man who always put his girls first. Lou was a model father and husband and would spare no expense to ensure that his girls always had whatever they needed.
