Obituary of John M. Maturo

John M. Maturo, 84, of Bulls Head , passed away on March 24, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (2006); loving father of Donna DePaul and her husband Rod, and Michael Maturo and his wife Trisha; cherished grandfather of Philip DePaul and his wife Janine, Kristen DePaul, Michael Maturo, Jr, and Ashley Maturo; devoted great-grandfather of Theo; dear brother of Ida Corradino and her husband Angelo. Mr. Maturo was born and raised in Brooklyn, and was graduated from William Grady High School. After high school he entered the Police Academy and served for 21 years with the NYPD, retiring in 1980. He also served for two years in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. John, along with his police partner Tom Bottoni, also owned and operated Bo-Mat Creations, where he made police oriented plaques and collectibles. John enjoyed and was skilled at bowling, and was an avid Mets fan. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R. C. Church at 10:30 am. Entombment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
