Obituary of Lorraine Reed Rosenthal

Lorraine Reed Rosenthal, age 83, passed away on April 6, 2021. She was the cherished mother of Margaret Abbate, Debra Rodriguez, and Theresa Kulpowsky; she was the proudest grandmother of Salvatore and Laurianna Abbate, Christopher, Bryan, and Samantha Rodriguez, Lauren, Nicole, and Danielle Kulpowsky, and great-grandmother of Haylee Rodriguez. Lorraine will also be survived by her devoted companion of over ten years, Richard Tringali. Lorraine was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY with her five siblings. One of her favorite pastimes was taking her three daughters and her Avenue C family to Brighton Beach. If the sun was shining, they were there. She also spent a treasured 30 years working for Hi-Fashion Fabrics. She loved her job and the lifelong friendships she made there. Lorraine always had an undeniable zest for life. She was an incredible dancer; one of her greatest joys was being an instructor for the Brooklyn Hustle dance studio. She enjoyed travelling as well. From lunches with her girlfriends in the city to cruising the tropics with her family, she was always up for an adventure. Lorraine also loved a good competition. Whether she was throwing strikes in her bowling league or playing cornhole at barbecues, above all she loved having fun with her family. Later in life, Lorraine and Richard rekindled an old relationship. They were the best of friends, partners in crime, and the life of the party. All of Staten Island knew and loved Lorraine and “Rich.” They loved going to listen to their favorite bands and dining at their favorite restaurant, Cole’s Dockside. Together, they happily lived life their way, to the absolute fullest. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, 4/10, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, with a brief service at 5:30 pm.
