Obituary of Susan L. Palmieri
Susan L. Palmieri, beloved mother to Dylan Palmieri, passed away on Friday July 22, 2022, after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Mario and Eleanor DiStefano Palmieri. Susan was born on July 5, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY. An enthusiastic patron of the arts, she dedicated her life to teaching English, A.P. Literature, Speech, Film and Drama.
Susan, often known as “Professor Palmieri,” was admired by many of her elementary, high school and college students. Her commitment to educating her classroom on artistic and cultural wealth was unparalleled. Throughout her extensive career, Susan directed numerous theatrical plays which would certainly give Broadway a run for its money.
She was a wonderful and loving mother who absolutely adored her beautiful son Dylan. Her most cherished memories include spending time with family and close friends. Susan enjoyed spending time in Florida and her European vacations. Paris, Monte Carlo, Italy and London being her all-time favorites.
In addition to her son, she leaves behind her sisters; Linda Palmieri Evanko of Connecticut and Rosemary Palmieri of Staten Island; nieces and nephews, Danielle (Kevin) Carrano, Lauren and Donald Evanko of Connecticut; great-nephews, Tyler and Cole Carrano; last, but certainly not least, her precious dog Dickens.
Susan expressed her flair for life through her great fashion and hosting large parties.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY.
Throughout her years, Susan was an active contributor to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In her honor, memorial donations can be made in her name at stjude.org.
