Obituary of Joseph Alaimo

Joseph Alaimo, 77 son of the late Rosario and Giovanna Alaimo of Castrofilippo, Sicily, passed away on November 26, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Maria and her children Dominik, Francesca, and Joseph Lupo, devoted father of Dina Annese, cherished grandfather of Alexa, Michael, Madison, and Sofia Annese, brother of the late Antonio and Rosaria Alaimo, survived by brothers Gioacchino and Vincenzo Alaimo along with their wives Lily and Maria, and survived by sister, Lily Morreale and her husband Joseph. Joseph cared for his many loving nieces and nephews along with grand-nieces and nephews and a great grand nephew, Avery James. Joseph was born on March 7th, 1945, in Sicily and came to the U.S.A, and settled with his family in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1958. He was educated in the NYC Public School System and ultimately, became a teacher of Italian in Cavallaro Junior High School in Brooklyn, New York. He then became a District Administrator in the Community School District 21k. Joseph enjoyed spending his days with family, especially his four grandchildren! They were his "heart and soul". He loved singing songs by Frank Sinatra and reminiscing about the "old days". He cherished his culture and always stressed the importance of family! No matter how you know Joseph, he definitely left an impression on you. Joseph Alaimo was a force to be reckoned with, a leader, a wise man with a big and generous heart, a trustworthy and loyal family member, and simply, "the best," as he always said. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Friday, 12/2/2022, departing at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Teresa’s R.C. Church at 10:45 AM.
