Tanya Tawon Brown's beautiful and unrelentingly, loving heart gave out on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
Tanya leaves behind to mourn; her grieving mother, Jeanette Brown; her aunts, Penny, Delores, Fannie, Carrie and Anita; sorrowing uncle Norman Davis; brother-in-law, Louis Fortunat; beloved niece and nephew, Patrick and Maiya Fortunat; her partner, Philip; her Fur Babies, Taco and Blue along with a host of heartbroken cousins, godchildren, family, friends and clients.
Tanya was intelligent, bright, magnetic and effervescent, always looking for ways to parlay her talents into the public arena. During her quest to assist others, she graduated from SUNY at Buffalo with a B.A. in Communications. Her efforts culminated in her being named in the Academic Collection of "Who's Who among students in American Universities and Colleges in 1986. After a short stint On-Air at WBLS Radio Station, she went on to pursue the field of professional social work, obtaining her CASAC in 2005, followed by becoming a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in 2013. In 2024, Tanya obtained her Master CASAC which is the highest achievement bestowed upon clinicians in the Substance Abuse field.
We will never be the same and our hearts are irretrievably broken by our loss.
Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, 9/30, from 9:00 to 11:00 am. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11 am, at the funeral home, with interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
