Words cannot express the sadness today brings, but I will always cherish the memories I have of you. As my step father, you helped build the foundation of who I became as an adult and I will forever be grateful for your love of baseball and teaching me to play as a child. I have always the loved playing and watching the game and that directly comes from you. I am so glad we were able stay in contact, especially the last 10 years as my 2 boys have grown up. When we talked you always asked about my family first, no matter how you felt, what you were going through, what battle you were facing - it was always “how is the family”. And you’d never talk about what was going on with your life or health until I answered the question! LOL I have missed being able to talk with you and hear your voice. I miss those hour long calls that just flew by, but you still took the time to text and check in with me. Definitely wasn’t the same as talking, but you still reached out often to check on the family and update me on how you were doing. You battled courageously for so many years and we know you’re no longer in pain and you’re in a better place. You will forever have a place in my heart John.
