John L. Fodor, 63, passed away November 23rd, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife Laura, along with his children Heather, Shawn, Scott and Precious, and grandchildren LJ and Athena.
From 1979 to 1987, John proudly served as an Enlisted Electronics Technician Sailor in the United States Navy. Throughout his life, he cherished recounting his time in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Elliot (DD-967), where he proudly served and was deployed across the West Coast, Asia, and the Pacific Ocean. He loved to share his military stories of camaraderie and duty that left a lasting impact on all who heard them. John took immense pride in his military service and of all the places, experiences and lessons it gave him. Afterwards, he had a long and successful career in Engineering and Engineering Project Management.
John always found a way to inspire others through his friendly conversations. Regardless if you were family or a stranger he had just met, he always managed to effortlessly talk about the importance of family, love, hard work and perseverance. Most importantly, he spent most of his life figuring out ways to motivate his family, ensuring everyday is filled with love and happiness between each other, and ending every family conversation with “I love you.” His family was always his number one priority.
John’s favorite place to visit and fondest memories were with his wife and family at the beach, seeing the ocean, and spending time at the Jersey Shore. His favorite sport was baseball and throughout his life, he played, taught, and watched baseball and supported his childrens’ baseball games.
In his final days, he faced medical challenges with the same mental and physical toughness that defined him. Strong until the very end, he found peace surrounded by his loved ones, always with a smile, and grateful for the moments shared with family and friends.
The visitation will be at Matthew Funeral Home on Saturday, November 30th from 2-5 PM. Funeral service with military honors will be held at the funeral home at 3:45 PM.
