Obituary of Kathleen Mary Masone
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen Mary Masone, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and compassionate nurse who peacefully departed this life on November 29, 2024 at the age of 85, surrounded by her family.
Born in the Bronx, NY, a daughter of Irish immigrants, she grew up with a deep sense of pride for her Irish heritage. She moved to Staten Island, NY to raise her beloved family. She was the proud mother of five children and Nana to ten grandchildren.
Kathleen pursued her passion for helping others by becoming a registered nurse, attending school while raising her five children. She continued her education while working to receive her Masters in Nursing. Her wisdom and dedication extended beyond the hospital walls as she shared her knowledge with future generations of nurses while teaching at the College of Staten Island. During her 40 plus year nursing career, she held several roles in many hospitals most notably Staten Island University Hospital and St. Vincent's Hospital. She finished her career at Port Richmond High School as the school nurse.
She is survived by her children: Kathy Del Duca and her husband Anthony; Richard Masone and his wife Susan; Theresa Masone; Christine Pellikan and her husband Eddie; and Kerri Anne Bagnaturo and her husband Vin and ten cherished grandchildren: Kathleen, Joseph (Derya), Nicholas, Rachael, Nicole, Jackie, Zachary, Jake, Derek and Kyle, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind many adored nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with her beloved parents: Patrick and Kathleen Tolan; her brother Thomas Tolan and his wife Emily; and her sister, Anna Meade and her husband Jack.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kathleen's life at Matthew Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3rd from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Wednesday, December 4th at 10:00 am. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.
