Obituary of John Squicciarini

John Squicciarini, age 92, of Bulls Head, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Sarah (nee Moretti) (2009), loving father of Suzanne Carrier and her husband, William; cherished grandfather of William Jr. and his wife, Jean, and Christopher and his wife, Samantha; devoted great-grandfather of James, William III, Ashley Rose and Christopher. John was preceded in death by five siblings. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Squicciarini was born in Brooklyn in 1925, and raised in Park Slope. He was a graduate of Erasmus High School and earned an Associates Degree from Brooklyn College. John served from 1944 to 1946 in the Navy serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He was employed as a United States Customs Inspector for 32 years. He also worked as a Wall Street Runner and as a clerk at Block Buster Video. Some of his hobbies included trips to Atlantic City, fishing, watching the Mets, and was an avid reader. John was a member of the VFW Gold Star Post. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Entombment to follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
