Beloved Linda, Susan and Rosemary...I just saw the notice of Mario's passing...I am in a state of disbelief because it seemed Mario would forever be there with all the people he loved so very much, not to mention his love of life every single day. You and your sisters, dearest Eleanor, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren continuously gave him the joy and love that quantified and enhanced the quality of his remarkable long life. We are all well aware that regardless of age or status of health, we cannot ever be ready to say goodbye to those we adore and need the most...I will miss my father all the days of my life, as each of you will...If It were possible, I would absorb at least some of your profound sadness--I would hold each of you in my arms and offer the support you need...But that is not how it works, is it? We each carry our own burden of loss and sorrow, but also the crazy, funny, beautiful moments with your precious dad. Please know I loved him too, as did Dick, and I treasure the laughter and flirting I always shared with Mario. He had an incredible gift of making every person he knew feel very special and important. I will send prayers straight to God for him. Please accept my deepest condolences.
