Obituary of Mario A. Palmieri

Mario A. Palmieri, age 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on September 17, 2018. Mr. Palmieri was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 2, 1923 to Romualdo and Theresa Sasan Palmieri. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Eleanor DeStefano Palmieri, who passed away in 1989. Mario attended college and later on served in the United States Army, serving in Italy from 1943 to 1946. He received various medals/honors while being there, including the W.W. II Victory Medal and the European/African/Mid Eastern Medal of Good Conduct. Mario was a General Contractor in NYC and Florida. His love of travel took Mario and Eleanor on numerous worldwide excursions, yet they always managed to devote time to their three daughters. In 1993 he continued his worldwide travels with his new sweetheart, Melanie Proscia. He will be greatly missed by family and friends in New York, Connecticut, and Florida, and remembered for all his kindness, thoughtfulness, caring, loving and gentleness. He is survived by his daughters Susan Palmieri, Rosemary Palmieri, and Linda Evanko, as well as his grandchildren Dylan, Danielle (Kevin), Lauren, Donald, and two great-grandchildren. Mario enjoyed his family vacations; cruising down to the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. In addition to traveling, he also enjoyed smoking his cigars, watching his favorite football team (the Miami Dolphins), and gambling in the world's finest casinos. In lieu of flowers, please have a good thought and give your loved ones a hug! Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
