I found out a little to late but I am sending my condolences to the family . I took 3 levels of sign language and Katina was my tutor..we became best friends..she took me to all her hot spots..I depended on her so much she was my rock till one day I said that's enough you do not belong as a tutor YOU belong as a professor with your own class..SO I did the unthinkable..I went up and got an appt with the Dean and the Dean's assistant and told Katina..we have an appt ..YOU are going to get your own class if it's the last thing I do..she was so nervous ..I told her let me do the speaking first for the presentation and all the praise I had for you and the endless effort you gave to all the students..She would be running here and there..So after I finished my speech ..she signed it to the Dean and the Dean's Assistant. And then I told them how fair is it that she knows more than the speaking professor and is still kept JUST tutoring ..well I met up with Katina..glowing and she told me .."IT WORKED" I got my own class I am a professor of a non speaking sign language class no speaking at all..I hugged her so tight she said to me "YOU did it" If it wasn't for you I'd still be stuck doing tutoring..I said YOU are more than just a tutor you are my idol and best friend..So with her work load of classes grading papers..also mentoring I didn't get to see her that much..but it was okay it was meant to be..and then later on I just found out she is gone..My best friend ..no one knew how to contact me..it is hard to even think of this even happening I wished someone would have come to my house and told me I would have been there again for her ..SO may she R.I.P I love you Katina..you were the most sincere person in my life big ((angelic hugs))) to you I love you <3

I first meet Tina, back in 1998 when my dear departed Polly and I moved to Staten Island, and shortly after Tina and the family moved 2 doors down.
Tina was always a sweet wonderful young lady, very caring, devoted to family which meant so much to her, and her friends.
It was a pleasure watching her grow into a beautiful lady.
The call I received in regards to Tina was heartbreaking, that such a beautiful person could leave us so soon.
A beautiful soul is never forgotten

My memory with Katina was in 1997 in the dorm at C.W. Post University as my very first friend there. She welcomed me to our suite with warmth and grace. She always filled the room with laughter and love. We enjoyed Cancun Mexico for Spring Break together and shared many great times through out the years in college and having both became professors we also share that career path together although separated by many miles after college.
She is a treasure and truly my best friend, I will always love her and feel that my life was enriched to have known her, I am grateful to have had her in my life.
It is difficult to let such an angel return to heaven.
