Obituary of Michael DiFilippo

Michael DiFilippo August 10, 1969 – July 5, 2019 Michael passed peacefully on Friday, July 5th with his mother, Terri and cousin Larraine D'Elia by his side. He is survived by his mother Terri, a cherished son of his late father, Michael and a loving brother of the late Robert. Michael had many accomplishments in his life, - obtaining his Ed.D was a high point. He was an advocate for children with special needs assisting parents in finding the most appropriate programs for their children's specific needs. The position of Dean in a NYC public school gave his life true meaning. Sports held a special place in Michael's life. He coached basketball and worked with children of all ages and abilities. He truly enjoyed watching his nephew Joseph play basketball. He was an avid Jets fan and suffered through being a Mets fan as well. Michael loved to travel and has a special place in his heart for Italy. He especially enjoyed sharing vacations with his niece Vivian at Disney. Michael was Uncle Cousin to some, Uncle Donuts to others and simply Uncle Michael to Vivian, Joseph and Alex. A testament to his character is the lifelong bond he had with his close friends. They weren't friends they were his PALS. Michael faced a lifelong disease with bravery, honesty, and courage. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He is probably one of the most unforgettable people you will ever know.
